Shiatsu Massage applies firm pressure
along the energy channels of the body
|
Shiatsu is an ancient Japanese massage technique
steeped in oriental wisdom. It uses firm pressure along
the energy channels of the body to re-harmonizes the body's
natural flow of energy thus promoting and maintaining health
as well as treating specific illnesses. As shiatsu is a
therapeutic massage it utilises an oriental diagnostic framework
that allows for a very personalized treatment to target
specific energy channels that may be blocked or sluggish.
The basic aims of Shiatsu are to help with relaxation and
so combat the effects of stress; stimulate lymphatic flow
and blood circulation thus boosting the immune system; release
deep muscular tension to alleviate aches, pain and stiffness;
and help improve appropriate body awareness. It is carried
out on a futon while wearing loose fitting clothes, or a
gown, and is a healing, oil free, truly relaxing massage
that both relieves pain and re-energizes.
Infant Massage is a wonderfully beneficial technique
that every new parent should know. As a mother of two young
boys Tania has first hand experience of the benefits of
Infant Massage and so teaches new parents a form of massage
that is suitable for babies ranging from 6 weeks to 6 months
of age. It is an easy to learn technique, steeped in ancient
wisdoms, that focuses on formalising inherent nurturing
skills and can be specially designed for individual babies'
needs or adapted to older children. Infant Massage improves
baby's sleep patterns by soothing the nervous system; relieves
colic and constipation by toning baby's intestinal system;
aids positive non-verbal communication skills between parents
and baby, thereby building bonds, teaching trust and developing
behavioural understanding; enhances the tactile expression
of love, thereby increasing parent confidence. Infant Massage
is proven to be most beneficial to all babies including
Special Needs and Premature babies.
