For the Chinese, Feng Shui has traditionally been a way of life. It is both a science and an art that has influenced the shape of Chinese cities, palaces, villages and cemeteries.
Feng Shui is more than just the placement of furniture within a room or the placement of a home on a block of land, it is the study of the interrelationship between Heaven, Earth and Humanity. Just as the human body is permeated and surrounded by fields of energy so do the cosmic forces of the heavens permeate our environment. Our life and destiny are closely interwoven with the workings of the universe and nature through the interactions of these energy fields. Through the arrangement of furniture, the colours we choose for different rooms, and the ornaments with which we adorn our space we can harness and enhance the energy within our immediate environment and thus influence the flow of energy within our bodies.
The art of placement can be applied in such a way as to cultivate auspicious energy for happiness, prosperity and good health. A template of the Ba Gua is placed over the plans for a home or room and as each of the eight divisions is assigned an aspect of life (marriage, fame, wealth, family, knowledge, career, helpful people, and children) the Ba Gua can be used as a guide to interpret a person's life and problems and as a cure to resolve them.
The harmony of one's environment can play a large role in the state of one's wellbeing. Living in a home with rising damp can play havoc with your health, constantly being surrounded with chaos can make your feel agitated, you know yourself when you step into a room whether or not it feels good, even if you don't know why.
Tania has studied Feng Shui and at times may recommend further investigations into one's home or place of work to continue the holistic task of investigating the impacts upon one's health.
